Cucumber Chutney Recipe

Cucumber chutney goes very well with any dosa or idly. The taste has to be had to be believed

Ingredients :

  • 1 cucumber
  • 3 tbsp chana dal / peanuts
  • 3-4 green chilly
  • 1/4 cup fresh grated coconut
  • Small piece of tamarind
  • 3 tbsp fresh coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • For tempering
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

How to make:

  1. In a pan take a tsp oil and roast the chana dal / peanut. Once almost done add the green chilly, tamarind , coriander leaves.
  2. Cook for 2 mins then add fresh coconut and salt.
  3. Remove off the flame and cool completely
  4. Chop the cucumber ( since I use organic I used the skin as well if not peel)
  5. First dry grind the roasted ingredients into a coarse powder. Then add the cut cucumber and grind. Add little water only if required as the cucumber has high water content.
  6. Remove on to a serving bowl and temper with mustard seeds.
  7. This chutney goes very well with any dosa or idly. The taste has to be had to be believed
